Adam Balavender, General Manager
Originally from Avon, CT, Adam graduated from Johnson & Wales University in Providence RI with a degree in Hospitality. He is proud to have worked for M Waterfront Grille and its affiliate restaurant for the past 14 years and was an integral part of the successful launch of M Waterfront Grille in 2008. With his summers spent on Block Island working at M Waterfront Grille's sister restaurant, The National Hotel, Adam learned the ins and outs of the restaurant world. When the summer season on Block Island would wind down, Adam would relocate down the coast, to focus on cultivating relationships with the clientele in the Naples area and work to better understand the complex world of wine and fine dining. With a passion for creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for each and every guest, a robust sense of humor and a calm demeanor, Adam strives to ensure every customer of M Waterfront Grille will be making a return trip. With the last of their Block Island summers behind them, Adam, his wife Kati and son-to-be are excited to be back in Naples full-time. As Adam takes the reigns as the General Manager at M Waterfront Grille, he looks forward to putting his spin on the recipe for success of M Waterfront Grille for years to come.

Mimi Trautschold, Manager
A true Minnesota girl, Mimi attended St. Cloud University before venturing
to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, to begin her career in the hospitality
business. Returning to the U.S. in 1988, Mimi settled in Naples,
FL with a new job at a recently opened waterfront restaurant, Maxwell's.
Mimi is proud to have worked for the company for the past 24 years, and
was excited to be an active part of launching M Waterfront Grille.
She truly enjoys greeting long time guests as well as welcoming new
friends to the restaurant. Making everyone feel comfortable and well cared
for is the hallmark of Mimi's management style.

Daniel Ilie, Manager
Daniel as a young adult always wanted to travel to new places and meet interesting people. He received his Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, then a Master’s in Computer Aided Design of Technological Equipment, and Marketing Management, from Romania. He arrived for the first time in United States in 2007, he discovered the food and beverage industry was his passion. Daniel fell in love with the people and the culture. Daniel was hired at M Waterfront Grille in October 2014 and is proud to be a part of M Waterfront Grille because the team is dedicated to the guests they serve.

Maria Watson, Private Dining & Special Events Coordinator
Raised in the United Kingdom, Maria achieved her Bachelors Degree in Tourism and Business Management, during her studies she started her internship at our sister property on Block Island, RI. Since 2010, Maria worked seasonally at the National Hotel, working front desk for 6 summers. In 2012, upon completion of her studies she moved to Naples where she became apart of M Waterfront Grille's front desk team. Maria is excited to be apart of the team year round and has been devoted to excelling in great customer service, always with a smile.

John Berry, Executive Chef
Executive chef John was born June 14th 1968, in McHenry, Illinois. John received his degree at the Florida Culinary Institute. His first professional job was at the PGA National Resort and Spa. John than moved to Naples Florida and received a job at Maxwell's on the Bay where he met his wife Debra in 2001. He has been with the company for the past 23 years working his way up to executive chef. With numerous years of experience creating innovative culinary comfort dishes with the team, John will continue his role as chef to wow our guests, for years to come.

Royce Riegler, Sous Chef
Royce Riegler was born in Traverse City, Michigan in 1982. He grew up in a small rural town, surrounded by farmland and cattle. He started working on the farm at a young age. Being brought up in agriculture he has a strong sense of where food comes from and the work it takes to produce. After finishing culinary school at Career Tech Center, Traverse City, Michigan in 2001, Royce worked at Shanty Creek Ski Resort and Park Place Hotel before moving to Cleveland, Ohio to further his career. He became Sous Chef at Hyde Park Steakhouse for three years. Royce and his wife had an opportunity to move to Florida, wanting to further his knowledge of food. Royce moved to Naples in 2012 where he became Sous Chef at La Playa Beach and Golf Resort. Since joining with M Waterfront Grille at the beginning of 2016 he has felt a great sense of pride and accomplishment working for an independent restaurant . He is looking forward to growing his culinary career in South West Florida.

The National Hotel, Block Island, Rhode Island
This 45 room historic Block Island hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic places and is located in the heart of Old Harbor, Block Island. All of our Block Island Hotel rooms have been renovated and feature private baths, televisions and telephones. The National's giant, wrap-around porch is world famous with breathtaking views overlooking the Block Island Sound, The Big Porch, is the best spot on the Block Island to enjoy lunch, dinner, a light snack or an evening cocktail. - there's even an outside bar.
